About Me

Born and raised in South Louisiana, My Great Aunt Laise was well-known in our small community. Not only did she serve in WW2 as a nurse, but she also devoted her life to God and even met the Pope back in the 80’s.

As an Elementary teacher, she taught many children over the years. Since she never married or had any children, she treated her nieces and nephews as her own. My aunt taught us many things such as cooking, quilting, sewing, and Cajun French.

Laise Ledet wrote and published a book titled, They Came, They Stayed. I spent most of my childhood helping her type on the old typewriter and copied hundreds of pages. I did anything I could to help create her vision.

Writing is the one thing that stuck with me.

Many police officers have their vices, an escape from what we see daily. I’m a sixteen-year veteran in Law Enforcement, and writing is my vice.

I write to escape the reality of the world. I write because I love it. I write for my readers. I write for my Aunt Laise.

  1. Niki,
    I am 139’s mom.
Your dedication was so heartfelt. It felt good to read the words of someone who knew him, laughed with him and grieved him.
    Thank you

    1. Hi. My apologies for taking this long to reply. I’m just seeing your post. Thank you for reaching out to me. There are no words and too many feelings to describe how happy this makes me. He always will be my little brother. I love and miss him so much.
      Sincerely,
      Niki
